23. First two weeks

Nikon released the full frame (FX) D700 on July 25, 2008... I managed to get mine on the same day.

Most of my new glass arrived over the next 6 weeks and I've been in learn-mode throughout, as it's my first D-SLR.

On the other hand I've shot with Nikon 35mm SLRs since 1965; mainly using Kodachrome, but other film, too. So, I'm not a total n00b.

One great thing is that all my old lenses work well, too - some going back over four decades... all you Canon shooters can eat your hearts out!

Note the postage-stamp size 400 pixel width as compared to the 4256x2832 pixel originals: they look much, much better when BIG. And they often appear darker and more saturated than on full-screen.

I will note that there has been virtually no electronic processing of shots, here. While I've corrected for my horizon-challenged eyes/mind in some and I've cropped in others, there has been no further manipulation (well, none 'til July, 2009 when I went Apple & Lightroom/Photoshop).

Site will be updated periodically... (by the way, "Nikkor" is the brand name for Nikon's lenses).
